Michigan's Best Trails For Spring

We might be biased, but Michigan is home to some of the most beautiful trails in the country. Our trails lead us to sand dunes, waterfalls and lakes. These are just a few of the must visit trails for spring:

Porcupine Mountains - Escarpment Trail

These views are unforgettable. The escarpment trail is just over 4 miles long with views of Lake Superior and Carp River Valley. Dress warm! These parts of the Upper Peninsula can still be chilly during the spring months. Learn more about Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park's offerings here.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Quite possibly one the most recognizable landmarks in Michigan, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a must see! In total, the loop is 9.7 miles. For those not ready for a complete 9-mile hike, the loop offers smaller sections including Chapel Falls and Chapel Rock. More information on the trails can be found here.

North Bay Trail

The North Bay Trail is located in Ypsilanti and offers gorgeous water views. Don't forget to bring your fishing pole, North Bay offers exclusive fishing! Find out more here.

Clinton River Trail

A true gem in Oakland County! This trail spans nearly 16 miles throughout many of Detroit's northern suburbs. The trail also connects to several other trails and has plans to extend from port Huron to South Haven in the future. Visit their site here.

Detroit Riverwalk

For those of us who don't mind a walk in the city, the Detroit Riverwalk is filled with beautiful river views of Detroit and Windsor. The riverfront is up for some major upgrades over the next few decade with plans for a beach and multiple greenways. Plan your perfect day with the help of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy's suggestions here.
