Ferndale Real Estate Listings and Information

Fabulous, Fun and Funky…three words that come to mind when you ask locals about the city of Ferndale.

Birthplace of the annual Woodward Dream Cruise (one of the largest celebrations of car culture in the country), Ferndale is central to all interstate traffic in Metro Detroit. Its location adjacent to the city of Detroit gives it an urban feel, but it is most definitely a suburb all its own.

Ferndale prides itself on neighbors helping neighbors, so much so, that there is annual recognition in the form of The Good Neighbor Awards. This program identifies and honors individuals, organizations and businesses in the community who are outstanding examples of "good neighbors," who are committed to building, preserving, maintaining and improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods.

Ferndale is recognized as a city with heavily-involved residents. Citizens are active in local politics and organizations that support the community. The city is also home to a 17,000 square foot three-story structure, called Affirmations, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community center.

Known for its colorful local shops like Naka and Mother Fletcher’s and eateries like Howe’s Bayou, Como’s, Toast and The Fly Trap (once featured on the Food Network’s Diners Drive- ins & Dives), Ferndale is a fun place to brunch and browse.

So if you’re looking for something a little left-of-center (or maybe just a little west of Detroit) make your way down Woodward and check out why Ferndale’s slogan is “Good Neighbors.”
