I have always been a great advocate for healthy living. If you haven’t noticed by now a lot of what I like to write about involves health related topics. Today’s topic is focused on things we can do to improve our physical health.
Weight training is a great activity to improve health, looks, and attitude. I have weight trained for years and it has made me a much healthier person for sure! Weight machines, free weights, and exercises using your own body weight are all effective strategies to get the job done. Mix your workouts up so you don’t get bored.
Cardio vascular activity is also a great way to lose weight, improve stamina, and increase flexibility. There are many options to choose from and ones that are easy on the knees! A great way to get the most benefit is 30-45 minutes at a time, after your weight training.
Both activities can also be a great way to meet new people, or a chance to spend time with your spouse.
Diet is such an important function of our everyday lives. What we eat is so important, along with when we eat it and how much are we consuming. A diet based heavily on plant-based food is a great way to stay trim and feel great. Limit meat to grass fed beef and more chicken and fish. A good rule is if man made it don’t eat it!
A good night’s sleep is so essential to feeling good and being productive in our fast-paced lives. One thing I have learned is to wind down before bed, take some time to read or deprogram from whatever you need to, so when you hit the bed you are stress free! I have found that 7-8 hours seems to be the sweet spot.
These suggestions should be researched ahead of time by the experts on the subject and what plan or activity fits you best. I hope you have enjoyed this commentary, and I look forward to seeing you next week!
